No. 8 Bears Travel to New Jersey for 2025 NCAA Championship
5/29/2025 9:00:00 AM | Women's Crew
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - With the regular season and Ivy Championship behind them, Brown women's crew readies for the NCAA Championship and a chance at the program's eighth national championship.Â
The Bears, whose seven national championships are more than any other program in the country since the NCAA Championship's inception in 1997, have had success in New Jersey in tournament's past. Bruno won their second national title in the Garden State at the 2000 NCAA Championship, as well as taking home the silver medal at the 2006 NCAA Championship at this specific racecourse in West Windsor.Â
This regular season saw the Bears take second place at the Eastern Sprints and third at the Ivy Championship, as well as an impressive overall showing in Sarasota at the Big Ten Invitational from Apr. 18-19. As a result of their strong season, Brown qualified for the NCAA Championship for a record 28th consecutive season, tying them with the Princeton Tigers and Washington Huskies for most all-time NCAA appearances since 1997.Â
The Varsity 8 enters competition as the nine seed, while the Second Varsity and Varsity 4 each earned the seven seed. The Bears also have a distinct advantage entering the weekend, having already raced against 12 of the 21 programs competing at the event this season. Loyalty Chair for Women's Crew Head Coach Tessa Gobbo-Zimmerman '13 and her coaching staff, Gratitude Assistant Coaching Chair Hank Zimmerman and Dahl Family Assistant Coach for Women's Crew Grace Collins, will be coaching in their first NCAA Championship together.Â
