Women's Rugby Places Fifth at Crimson 7s Tournament
3/29/2025 8:01:00 PM | Women's Rugby
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bears headed to Harvard for the Crimson 7s, placing fifth after winning two matches and losing two.
Genie Dickens led the way with three tries and four conversions for a total of 23 points on the day. Nikki Lynch, Lily Nowak and Laryssa Barbosa each added two tries. Julia Murray made three conversions, while Akilah Cathey, Olivia Baptiste and Aziza Alford all scored tries.
"We saw remarkable improvement from our B-side this tournament, gaining valuable reps on defense and starting to understand how to use their strengths on attack," said Kathleen Flores women's rugby head coach Rosalind Chou. "It was an unfortunate miss by the A-side losing by just a conversion to a strong AIC side, however, our defense improved and really showed in our games against LIU and Sacred Heart. Laryssa Barbosa and Jordan Wiseman made some very important stops for us and Akilah Cathey made big plays for us in critical moments. We look forward to a bit of a break before heading to Polar Bear 7s."
