
Jessie Golden Named Three-Time Defensive Player of the Year; Four Bears Named All-Ivy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball's Jessie Golden was unanimously selected as the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced on Thursday (Nov. 20). It is the third-straight year Golden has been named Defensive Player of the Year.
Golden was also a First-Team All-Ivy selection, alongside sophomore Sophia Wolfson. Mariia Sidorova was named Second Team All-Ivy and Julia Kakkis took home Honorable Mention honors.
With Golden being named Defensive Player of the Year, Brown has now won that honor in four of the last five seasons.
Golden, who earned her third-straight First-Team honor, led Brown and finished second in the league with 4.72 digs per set. During league play, Golden upped her average to 4.98 digs per set, finishing more than .5 digs/set higher than the second-place finisher. The senior posted double-digit digs in all but one match, reached 20 digs nine times this season and collected a season-high 28 digs at Yale.
Wolfson earned her first All-Ivy honor of her career, finding a spot on the First Team after a stellar sophomore season. Wolfson led the Ivy League in blocks (1.47 per set) and had 19 more blocks than anyone else in the Ivy League. The Los Angeles native also finished fifth in the league in hitting percentage (.382) and kills per set (3.00). During league play, Wolfson upped her kills per set to .316 and hitting percentage to .393.
Sidorova picked up her second All-Ivy honor of her career after leading the Bears in kills as a senior. Sidorova finished the year sixth in the Ivy League with 3.17 kills per set and was fourth in the league with 29 service aces. 21 of Sidorova's 29 aces came during league play.
Kakkis was named Honorable Mention for the second-straight year as the sophomore finished the season second in the Ivy League with 9.67 assists per set. Kakkis finished the season with 15 matches of at least 30 assists and reached the 40-assist mark six times.
