No. 20 Field Hockey Falls 3-1 at No. 4 Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Brown field hockey team (7-4, 3-2 Ivy) fell 3-1 at No. 4 Harvard (12-0, 5-0 Ivy) on Friday evening at Berylson Family Field Hockey Field.Â
The loss for Brown snapped its six-game winning streak.
Brown controlled the pace in the opening 15 minutes, controlling the ball in the offensive half of the field for a majority of the quarter. The Bears were unable to generate a scoring chance as the first quarter ended scoreless.
The Crimson opened the scoring 1:35 into the second quarter off of a penalty corner opportunity. After Kate Siedem made a defensive save on a shot by Bronte-May Brough, Sage Piekarski found the back of the net to give the Crimson a 1-0 advantage.
Harvard doubled its lead to 2-0 four minutes later on a goal by Lara Beekhuis. The Bears had a chance to cut the Harvard lead to 2-1 late in the first half when they generated their first penalty corner chance. After Lexi Pellegrino's initial shot was blocked, Lizzie Loftus fired a shot from inside the circle but her shot was turned aside by Linde Burger.
Harvard outshot Brown 4-3 in the first half, Brown goalkeeper Kylee Del Monte made one save in the half.
In a scoreless third quarter, the Crimson outshot the Bears 2-1, Del Monte added one more save in the third to keep the score at 2-0.
Harvard expanded its lead to 3-0 1:02 into the fourth quarter on a goal from Martha le Huray. Brown's lone fourth quarter shot found the back of the net as Emily Jury scored her first career goal with 38 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
Overall, the Crimson outshot the Bears 9-5 (6-3 on target).Â
Brown will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 18 when they return to Goldberger Family Field to take on Bryant at 12 p.m.
