Love Captures Long Jump Title on Day One of Heps

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior jumper Zach Love won the Ivy League title in the long jump to help highlight day one of the Ivy League Heps for the Brown track and field programs. It is the first career title for Love, who qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2023.
Both the men's and women's programs sit in fourth place after day one of competition. The Brown men saw three top 10 all-time marks in program history on Saturday with Love's winning long jump of 7.74 meters sitting at No. 2 all-time in program history. Fellow senior jumper John McNeil also landed on the podium in the long jump in third place at 7.66 meters, which ranks fourth in program history. Elias Archie ran the No. 3 all-time 100m dash in 10.58 seconds to finish ninth.
Love and McNeil helped Brown take three of the top six spots in the long jump, as Frank Monahan-Morang finished sixth at 7.22 meters.
On the women's side, Brown had six women register marks that sit in the top 10 in program history. Two Bears set top 10 marks in the 100m hurdles with senior Lauren Yeboah-Kodie finishing in 13.95 seconds to rank fifth all-time in program history and finish the prelim race in seventh place to qualify for Sunday's finals. Freshman Elle Riley finished with a time of 14.14 seconds to rank 10th in program history.
Yeboah-Kodie was not done as she finished in third place overall to finish on the podium in the long jump at 6.08 meters. Jada Joseph finished sixth overall at 6.02 meters, which ties her own mark for seventh all-time in program history.
In the 400 meter hurdles, freshman Maddelynn Brooks finished seventh in the prelims to qualify for the finals with the fourth fastest time in program history in 1:00.70.
Brown earned points from two athletes in the hammer throw, with Sophia Gallucci finishing fourth overall at 56.26 meters, good for fifth all-time at Brown, and a sixth place finish for Kendra Ezeama of 54.97. Ezeama's mark also ranks sixth all-time in program history.
