INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Anika Breker and sophomore Alexandra Tzou were both selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships. Breker will compete in the foil and Tzou will compete in the sabre later this month in Columbus, Ohio.
It marks the first NCAA Championship appearance for both Breker and Tzou.
Breker captured a fifth-place finish in the foil at Sunday's NCAA Northeast Regional after beginning the day seeded 26th. She picked up 20 bout victories on the day to ultimately finish in the top-five.
Breker is one of eight from the Northeast Region and one of 10 Ivy Leaguers selected to compete later this month.
Tzou was seeded 10th at the Northeast Regional and collected six wins on the day to finish 15th at the tournament.
She is one of 10 competitors selected from the Northeast and one of nine from the Ivy League.
It marks the second straight season Brown has qualified two athletes to the NCAA Championships and just the third time since 2015. Breker and Tzou mark the 18th and 19th Bears to reach the Championships since 1995.
