Childs and Smith Earn All-America, 13 Earn Phil Steele All-Ivy Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Thirteen members of the Brown football team have been named to the Phil Steele All-Ivy team, the organization announced on Thursday. Freshman running back Matt Childs was selected as the organization's Rookie of the Year for the Ivy League, while both Childs and offensive lineman Beau Smith were named to the Phil Steele Freshman All-America Team.

Second Team: Mark Mahoney (WR), Caleb Moorhead (LB), John Perdue (LB), Kyle Philbin (DL)
Third Team: Hayden Bozich (OL), Matt Childs (RB), Elias Archie (DB), Christopher Maron (K)
Fourth Team: Charlie Hines (OL), Jake Willcox (QB), Nick Hudson (DB)
Childs previously was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year after leading Ivy freshman in rushing (40.11) and receiving yards (42.67) per game and became just the fourth true freshman in program history to lead the team in rushing.
Smith played right tackle on an offensive line that helped Brown lead the Ivy in total offense (421.5) and passing yards (290.4) per game this season. This is the second Freshman All-America honor for both Smith and Childs this year, having previously been recognized by FCS Football Central.
Connolly and Bozich both land on the Phil Steele team after anchoring a strong left side of Brown's offensive line this year. Archie recorded 10 pass breakups on the season and had a key interception in the Bears' win over Harvard, which earned him Ivy Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Mahoney ranked sixth in the league this year with 62.8 receiving yards per game and led the team with five receiving touchdowns, including the game-winner to beat Harvard. Linebackers John Perdue and Caleb Moorhead joined him on the second team, with Moorhead leading the team with 9.5 TFLs and Perdue totaling 48.0 tackles with 4.0 TFLs and 2.0 sacks. Philbin recorded 23.0 tackles and added one sack this season.
Maron went 11-for-16 on field goals this season including kicking the game-winner as time expired to beat Cornell. Davidson earns his first-career First Team honor after being named on the second and third teams each of the last two seasons. As a longsnapper, he helped Maron and the Bears go 24-for-24 on PATs.
On the fourth team, Hines started all 10 games at center and was a mainstay on the offensive line for Brown. Hudson led the Ivy League with 13 pass breakups and ranked third in passes defended. Willcox Led the Ivy League and ranked fourth in FCS with 24.6 completions per game and ranked second in the league and 24th nationally with 2,497 passing yards. His 249.7 passing yards per game ranked 13th in the nation and he was second in the Ivy League and ninth nationally with 281.9 yards of total offense per game.
