PRINCETON, N.J. – The Bears threatened early and often against No. 11 (nationally) and second-seeded Harvard (14-3) on Friday, but an overtime goal seven minutes into extras gave the Crimson a 1-0 victory over Brown (9-8) during the semifinals of the 2024 Ivy League Tournament at Bedford Field.
"I'm super proud of how we played," said head coach Britt Broady. "We've been getting better and better throughout the entire season. We battled and followed our game plan."
Broady on the season – "We began the season with one of our goals being here in the Ivy League Tournament. So much has been done by women, administrators, and those before us that led to the fruition of the Ivy League Tournament. Once you get in, it's a whole new season.
Broady on the seniors: "Our leadership was outstanding, and we will miss this tremendous group.
Kylee Del Monte finished with four saves, including one in overtime, and Katie McCallum registered two shots on goal.
After a defensive showcase in the first half, the Bears came out firing in the third, with two shots on goal. Brown continued to create offensive opportunities, with a corner attempt late into regulation. After a review featuring Brown's YMCA routine, a beautifully executed corner by Imogen Govan led to a shot on goal, but Harvard could escape unscathed.
Following the Tournament, Lucy Adams and Mia Karine Myklebust were named to the Ivy League All-Tournament team.
The 2024 Bears won nine games, the most by Brown since 2014.
