PROVIDENCE - The Bears sailed to a second-place finish in the College Sailing Match Race National Championship this weekend at Seakanhaka Yacht Club.
The Bears earned second out of 10 teams in New York this weekend. Four Bears competed in the race: Guthrie Braun, Camren Spriggs, Katherine McNamara and Charles Gish.
This ranking marks the third consecutive year that Brown has finished on the podium at this National Championship (3rd in 2022, 1st in 2023, 2nd in 2024). This is also the second second-place finish at a National Championship in the past week. The Bears placed second last weekend at the College Sailing (ICSA) Open Singlehanded National Championship and sixth place at the College Sailing Women's Singlehanded National Championship.
Brown had the best overall results of any team in College Sailing this fall at the three College Sailing National Championships this fall. The Bears improved from last year's pace when they won the Fowle Trophy as the Best Overall Team in College Sailing for 2023-2024.
