Men’s Soccer Earns 2-1 Win Over Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Two goals from Lorenzo Amaral helped give the Brown men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Rhode Island at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Tuesday evening.

The game-winning goal came in the 48th minute as the ball found the left foot of Amaral at the top of the 18-yard box, the sophomore fired the ball into the bottom right corner to give Brown a 2-1 advantage.

Amaral's first goal opened the scoring for the Bears in the 8th minute, he fired a shot into the bottom right corner of the net after making a long run to free himself up in the box.

The Rams knotted the game at one in the 17th minute on a penalty kick. Overall in the first half, the Bears out shot the Rams 11-3 (5-2 on goal), Brown also generated six corner kick opportunities.

Aside from the Amaral second half goal, the Bears launched 11 second half shots while generating nine second half corner kicks. Brown's 22 shots were also season high.

Defensively, Brown held Rhode Island to just one shot in the second half and four shots overall. Throughout the match, the Bears out shot the Rams 22-4 (10-2 on goal).

Brown will continue Ivy League Play on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Columbia, kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
