Football’s Annual Bench Press for Cancer Set for October 21

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football program is set to once again set to host an annual event for a good cause. The annual Bench Press for Cancer is set to take place on Monday, October 21 on the University's Main Green from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Brown football has hosted the event annually now for over two decades, starting back in 2004 to raise funds for team captain Lawrence Rubida '05, who had been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma. Despite Lawrence's passing in 2005, his former teammates and those who followed have lived by his "never quit" mentality and carried on the event in his memory.
Since its inception, BP4C has raised over $200,000, with all of the proceeds going directly to the Cancer Survivorship Programs at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. Donations can be made at the event on October 21, and online leading up to the event.
