
Men's Water Polo Starts Season With Win Over Augustana

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo split its first two games of the season with a win over Augustana and a loss to No. 11 Pepperdine.
Brown 17, Augustana 7
Brown was led by six goals from Ilias Stothart, while Jaxson Tierney and Goran Narancic each scored two goals.
The Bears used a 6-1 first quarter to take control of the game with goals from Gabe Chang, Evan Moore, Mac Berry, Stothart and two from Tierney.
Stothart scored two goals and Ramzi Magalli added another as Brown led 9-4 at the half.
A 5-1 third quarter blew the game open for Brown. Five different Bears found the back of the net with goals from Filip Aleksic, Thomas Hoffmeister, Stothart, Daniel Khristich and Narancic.
Stothart scored two goals and Narancic added another in final quarter for Brown.
No. 11 Pepperdine 22, Brown 10
Mate Tymcyna and Gabe Chang each scored three goals but Brown was overwhelmed by Pepperdine in the nightcap for the Bears.
Megalli and Chang scored in the first quarter, while Mac Berry and Chang each scored in the second but Brown trailed 9-4 at the half.
Pepperdine outscored the Bears 7-1 in the third quarter.
Brown scored five goals in the fourth quarter coming from Mac Berry, Narancic, Megalli and two from Tymcyna.
UP NEXT
Brown will play two more games on Sunday (Sept. 3), beginning the day against Bucknell at 10:30 a.m. and taking on Fordham at 5 p.m.
