PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball head coach Taylor Virtue has announced that Rob Chilcoat has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. Chilcoat had been an assistant coach with the program for the last three seasons.
"I am very humbled and honored to continue to help Brown Volleyball chase Ivy League Championships," said Chilcoat. Brown is a special place that I love to call home. I would like to thank Chancellor Samuel M. Mencoff '78 Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Dr. Grace Calhoun, Associate Director of Athletics, Recruiting and Retention, Colleen Kelly and Taylor Virtue for believing in me and the vision for this program. I would also like to extend a thank you to our support staff and student-athletes for the countless hours and hard work that they continuously pour into our program. I could not be more excited about the future of Brown Volleyball. It's a great day to be a Bear!
During the past three seasons, Chilcoat was responsible for working with the pin attackers and blockers as well as focusing on Brown's offense. The Bears have had tremendous success under the tutelage of Chilcoat. Brown led the Ivy League in blocks per set in 2022 (2.76) and 2021 (2.67). The Bears also led the Ivy League in hitting percentage in 2022 (.286) and 2021 (.262).
Prior to Brown, Chilcoat was an assistant at the University of South Alabama in 2019-20 and was an assistant and associate head coach at the University of West Alabama from 2016-18. Chilcoat played collegiately at Loyola University Chicago, winning back-to-back NCAA Division I national championships in 2014 and 2015 alongside an appearance in the national semifinals in 2013.
