50 Years Later: Catching up with Dennis Coleman '75

Fifty years ago this fall on October 6, 1973 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Brown quarterback Dennis Coleman '75 and his Penn counterpart Martin Vaughn made history as the first two black quarterbacks to start against each other in an Ivy League game, and among the first to do so in major college football history.
Recently, the voice of the Bears Scott Cordischi caught up with Dennis to get his thoughts on that historic game and its impact, his journey to Brown, and how his time as a student-athlete at Brown influenced his life.
Tomorrow night, both men will return to the same field to be honored prior to the Brown/Penn game 50 years after that historic afternoon. Coleman and Vaughn will be honored at a pregame reception and will take part in the pregame coin toss. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPNU.
