
Men's Hockey Season Preview

Brown men’s hockey drops the puck on its 98th season of hockey in 2023-24 as Jeanette and Richard Given Men's Ice Hockey Head Coaching Position Brendan Whittet ’94 enters his 15th season behind the bench.
Brown opens its season on Friday, October 27 at home against Yale. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Meehan Auditorium. Click here to view the full 2023-24 schedule

The Forwards
Brown forward group is split between 12 returners and five newcomers. Headlining the returners are Brown’s top-two forward scorers from 2022-23 – sophomore Ryan Bottrill and senior Jordan Tonelli. The duo combined for 13 goals and 25 assists a season ago.
Seniors Matt Sutton and Gavin Puskar also return after strong junior campaigns a season ago.
Newcomers Matthew Brille, Mike Cataldo, Tyler Kopff, Max Scott, and Ryan St. Louis look to add to the Bruno offense in 2023-24.

The Defensemen
Juniors Tony Andreozzi, Brett Bliss, and Jackson Munro headline the six returning defensemen on the squad in 2023-24.
Andreozzi and Bliss have combined to miss just one game since arriving on campus prior to the 2021-22 season with the latter posting six goals and 13 points in 2022-23.
Newcomers Ethan Mistry and Alex Pineau will factor into the lineup alongside returners Spence Evans, Harry Meirowitz, and Nick Traggio.

The Goaltenders
Sophomore Jacob Zacharewicz is the lone returning netminder from 2022-23. He is joined by newcomers Stephen Chen, Tyler Shea, and Lawton Zacher.

The Captains
Senior Jordan Tonelli is the program’s 112th captain after serving as an assistant a season ago. Alongside him as the assistants this season are senior Matt Sutton and junior Brett Bliss.

The 2023-24 Schedule
Brown’s 29-game schedule kicks off on Friday against Yale and wraps up on Saturday, March 2 with a game at Harvard.
The Bears will play seven non-league games, beginning Sunday (Oct. 29) with the first of two games against Division I newcomer Stonehill. Brown is also scheduled to take on Holy Cross (Nov. 24), LIU (Dec. 1), Stonehill (Dec. 3), Northeastern (Dec. 9), and Merrimack (Dec. 29).
Brown and Providence College renew the Mayor’s Cup rivalry on Saturday, December 30 at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears look to make it two straight against the Friars for the first time since 2000.
