PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Friends of Brown Men's Soccer Head Coaching Chair Chase Wileman has announced the addition of junior transfer Scott Gustafson to the Bears' 2022 roster. Gustafson played his freshman and sophomore seasons at the University of Washington.
Gustafson was part of the 2020 and 2021 Washington teams that advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight and National Championship game respectively. The Huskies fell to Clemson 2-0 in the 2021 College Cup final.
The Ashland, Ore. native played his high school soccer at Ashland High School where he was named the 2019-20 Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year for the state of Oregon. Gustafson was a four-year member of the varsity team and a two-time team captain. He was named to the all-state first team twice and was a member of the Olympic Development Program from 2016-19.
"I made the decision to come to Brown for the world-class education with a more intimate learning experience," Gustafson said. "I am also excited to be able to contribute to a new men's soccer resurgence at Brown and help take the Bears all the way."
Gustafson is the son of Kristin and Peter Gustafson. His mother was a member of the women's soccer team at UCLA and his father player golf at Cal.
