PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Britany Lau and Addison Ahlstrom have been named to the All-Ivy League teams, as announced by the league office Thursday. Lau was named to both the Singles and Doubles First Team, while Ahlstrom joins Lau on Doubles.
Lau played No. 1 singles all season long for the Bears, going 11-7 in such matches. In Ivy competition, she was 2-3. During the entire 2021-22 season, Lau posted a 16-12 mark, resulting in the most wins of any Bear in singles competition.
"This recognition is a testament to Britany's growth as a player, her work ethic, coachability and her maturity as a competitor," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "I can consistently count on her being a true warrior on the court and she has actively led her team by example."
On the doubles side, Lau and Ahlstrom played at all three spots, going 6-4 at No. 1, 2-1 at No. 2, and 4-2 at No. 3. They posted a 4-3 mark in Ivy competition and were 12-7 on the season. They were tied for the most victories of any Brown pair on the year.
"Britany and Addie have grown tremendously as a team this season," Schmidhauser said. "The variety of shots they use, their ability to adjust to opponents' styles and to compete fiercely have become their most valuable attributes in each match they played.
"The accolades these two players are receiving also belong to their teammates who challenged and pushed them in practice all year. I am excited about the direction our team is headed and this validation of Britany and Addie's hard work and results is just the beginning of our team's journey to a championship culture."
