
Brown Promotes Grant and Banno, Carhart Named Associate AD for Administration and Executive Operations

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Athletics and Recreation has promoted Ray Grant to Associate Director of Athletics, Recreation, Sean Banno to Assistant Director of Athletics, Facilities & Operations and announced Jeanne Carhart as the new Associate Director of Athletics, Administration and Executive Operations.
JEANNE CARHART
Carhart was previously the Associate Director of Athletics for Administration for six years after serving as Assistant Director of Athletics for Administration for three seasons.
She is the sport administrator for women's rugby, men's and women's tennis, and equestrian.
In her previous role, she provided direction, coordination and oversight in human resources, scheduling, and special projects and events.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to work more closely with (Vice President for Athletics and Recreation) Grace Calhoun and her executive leadership team," said Carhart. "I am looking forward to continuing to strengthen partnerships across campus while helping to implement and operationalize new strategies within the Division."
Before joining the senior leadership team, Carhart spent 13 seasons in athletic communications, serving as the sports information director for several programs.
Carhart serves as the Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Administrative Liaison. On campus, she supports the President's Advisory Council on Athletics, the Campus Life Subcommittee on Athletics and Physical Education, and the Athletic Hall of Fame committee.
She was instrumental in establishing a yearly career summit for female student-athletes and served in significant roles as Brown hosted numerous NCAA and Ivy League championships, most recently as Co-Tournament Director for the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Regional (2015, 2017, 2019) and the 2016 NCAA Men's Lacrosse quarterfinals.
SEAN BANNO
Banno joined the Brown Athletics staff in February of 2018 as the coordinator for facilities and operations. He assists in daily operations, including scheduling and facility maintenance. Banno serves as an event manager for home contests and oversees student workers and interns for the facilities and operations department.
"I want to thank Grace and Colin for giving me this opportunity," said Banno. "I'm excited to be a part of our growing department as we work towards Brown's Excellence Initiative. I'd also like to thank my colleagues Tom Bold, Ann Dwyer and Scott Sargent who have helped me grow over the last 4 years at Brown."
Before joining Brown, Banno was an Athletic Event & Operations intern at Harvard and assisted with daily operations and served as the event manager for field hockey, men's and women's ice hockey and women's rugby. Banno also worked in athletics at Syracuse University as a Facilities & Operations Intern and assisted with daily operations, game management and changeovers at the Carrier Dome.
Banno also worked for PSE Agency as a Manager of Ticket Sales. In this role, he sold season ticket memberships and group ticket packages for the Providence Bruins. He also sold group ticket packages for PSE events at the Dunkin' Donuts Center including Monster Jam, Harlem Globetrotters and Disney On Ice.
A native of Warwick, Banno earned his Bachelor's degree in Sports, Entertainment, Event Management from Johnson & Wales University in 2015. He earned his Master's degree in Sport Venue and Event Management at Syracuse University in 2017.
RAY GRANT
Previously an Athletics Director at Seekonk High School, Grant joined the Bears as the Facility Operations Manager and Aquatics Coordinator. Grant oversees and staffs the Aquatics and Fitness Center, Nelson Fitness Center, Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center and Garonzik Fitness Area to name a few, along with working with club programs and intramurals.
