#5 Women's Crew Heads to Ithaca to Take on Cornell, Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Fifth-ranked Brown women's crew hits the road and heads to Ithaca, New York to race against the Cornell Big Red and the Dartmouth Big Green on Cayuga Lake on Saturday (Apr. 23).
The B4 will open the racing at 8:30 a.m. with the A4 race following at 8:55 a.m. The 2V8 will race at 9:20 a.m. with the Varsity 8 at 9:55 a.m. and the 3V8 at 10:10 a.m. Saturday's competition concludes with the C4 at 10:35 a.m.
Brown and Cornell first met in 1977 and this Saturday marks the 36th meeting between the Bears and Big Red. Brown holds a 31-4 all-time record in the series. The Dunn Bowl was introduced in 1993 by then-Cornell coach John Dunn. Since its introduction, the Bears are 27-0 against the Big Red.
Most recently, Brown raced to a 16-second win over Cornell in 2019 and a 13-second win in 2018. The closest race in Dunn Bowl history came in 2012, when the Bears edged out the Big Red by 2.3 seconds on Cayuga Lake.
The Bears and Big Green have not met prior to Championship events often and this Saturday marks just the second time since 2016 the programs have raced against each other.
Brown competed in last weekend's Big 10 Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. In the first session on Friday (Apr. 15), Brown finished second in three races to second-ranked Stanford, coming in 1.9 seconds behind the Cardinal in the Varsity 8 race.
In the afternoon session on Friday, the Bears finished ahead of sixth-ranked Michigan in the 1V8 and 2V8 races. Brown maintained its momentum into the final session on Saturday (Apr. 16), sweeping all four races against 17th-ranked Rutgers, 19th-ranked Washington State, and host Wisconsin.
The Big Red competed in the Saratoga Duels on Fish Creek on Saturday (Apr. 9), finishing second in 5-of-12 races throughout the day. Cornell competed for the Cayuga Cup against Yale and Bucknell and the Class of 1975 Cup against Princeton, Radcliffe, and Bucknell.
Dartmouth also competed in the Big 10 Invitational last weekend in Sarasota. The Big Green's 2V8 crew took first-place in the final session on Saturday, taking a narrow victory over Iowa.
The Bears head to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts for the 2022 Eastern Sprints on Sunday (May 1).
