Women’s Tennis Continues Home Stand with 6-1 Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown (5-6) continued its perfect home stand with another 6-1 victory on Saturday morning in the Indoor Courts at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Bears cruised to winning the doubles point with wins in all pairs. Olivia Mariotti and Gabriella Dellacono won the third flight 6-0 and Ali Benedetto and Lindsey Hofflander clinched the point with a 6-0 win at No. 2. Britany Lau and Addison Ahlstrom swept doubles action with a 6-3 win at the top flight.
Sophia Reddy won in straight sets in singles No. 2 6-1, 6-3 and Benedetto, who moved up to No. 1, upended Mathilde Sreeves, 6-3, 6-3.
The match victory was clinched with Ryan Peus' 6-3, 7-6 (2) win at No. 4.
Hofflander and Mariotti also won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
"The key concept of this week's practice was belief," said Lucie Schmidhauser, Broadbent Family Women's Tennis Chair. "Believing in yourself, believing in your teammates and working hard in every aspect of your game to deserve that feeling of confidence and trust. The team did a very good job of trusting their training and executing their game plan with confidence. I look forward to another great week of practice to get us ready for URI."
