PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Athletics has announced the hiring of three senior staff administrators – Scott Sargent, Julia Kincade and Kelvin Queliz. Sargent will oversee facilities and operations as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations, Kincade leads the business office as the Associate Director of Athletics for Business Operations and Queliz will lead strategic communications as the Associate Director of Athletics for Strategic Communications and Content Creation.
"I am delighted to welcome three outstanding and accomplished administrators to the Brown Athletics senior leadership team," said M. Grace Calhoun, PhD. "Scott, Julia, and Kelvin all bring career experience and expertise in key areas that will help advance the bold strategic plan for the future of Brown Athletics. Our team just got markedly stronger with their addition, and I can already see the dividends in the support of our coaches and student-athletes."
SCOTT SARGENT
Sargent joined Brown following nine seasons at Arkansas, most recently as the Associate Athletics Director for Facilities Management. He will oversee all areas of facility management, including day-to-day operations of facilities for all Bears athletics and recreation contests and special events and serve as sport administrator for wrestling. Before his time at Arkansas, Sargent was the Assistant Project Manager for Janitronics, Inc. (2010-12), Director of Event Services for the City of Portland, Maine (2005-08), and worked in facilitates and operations at Maryland (2003-05) and Florida (2000-03).
"I'm extremely grateful to be afforded the opportunity to work in the Ivy League with Brown University," said Sargent. "It's an exciting time to be a Bear, with a tremendous amount of growth on the horizon, and I'm looking forward to working with such a dedicated and professional administration and staff."
JULIA KINCADE
Kincade joined the Bears after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director of Business Operations at the University of Miami since 2015. At Brown, Kincade is responsible for developing, monitoring, and managing the annual operating budget, overseeing the processing and proper reporting of all financial transactions, and directing the maintenance of all internal and external reporting. She is also the daily financial and budget liaison that supports the coaches of 34 varsity sports and administrators that represent units including club sports, intramurals and recreation. She also provides oversight of both the purchasing and revenue functions within the business office. In addition to her business office oversight, Kincade will be the sport administrator for field hockey and men's and women's swimming and diving.
"I am beyond excited to assume this new role within the Brown University athletic department," said Kincade. "There is a palpable excitement within the athletics division that makes this a unique place to be. Grace's vision and strategic plan for the division is extremely inspiring and I could not feel more fortunate to be joining this team and to be part of the Brown Bear family."
At Miami, Kincade worked closely with coaches and staff in the development, preparation, refinement and review of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports for the executive/senior staff, head coaches and University budget office. In addition, she worked hand-in-hand with all units to develop an annual zero-based budget, as well as execution of interdepartmental budget training.
Kincade has previously served as the box office manager to the Arizona Coyotes for over four years. Before the Coyotes, she worked in ticket operations for Sporting Kansas City (2010-2011) and the Springfield Falcons of Springfield, Mass. (2008-2010).
KELVIN QUELIZ
Queliz joined Brown after four years at New Orleans as the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Communications and Digital. At Brown, he will oversee strategic communications, production, digital, creative and social media, and serve as sport administrator for baseball.
"I am excited to join a prestigious University and continue to enhance our communications, production and social media strategies and tell the amazing stories of our student-athletes, coaches and programs," said Queliz. "Our team is excited about creating a comprehensive plan to maximize the exposure for all of Brown Athletics, Recreation, Brown University and the city of Providence."
At New Orleans, he was a member of the executive leadership team, served as sport administrator for golf and was executive producer of Inside #NOLAsTeam, which finished third in the Suncoast Emmy Awards. He created a comprehensive social media, communications, digital and marketing plan, and was pivotal in the Inside #NOLAsTeam Strategic Plan and moving all home contests to ESPN+ for the first time in school history. He provided strategic direction for fan engagement and assisted with the rollout of Opendorse and INFLCR content (NIL).
Prior to UNO, he was the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Texas A&M-Kingsville (2014-17), Florida Tech and The City College of New York.
