
Volleyball has three named All-Ivy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball had three players earn All-Ivy honors with Sophia Miller and Beau Vanderlaan earning First Team All-Ivy. Kate Sheire was named Second Team All-Ivy.
Miller was a unanimous selection to the First Team after posting career-highs in kills per set (3.57), points per set (4.01) and total blocks (35). A three-time First Team All-Ivy selection, Miller upped her play during Ivy League competition, leading the league in both kills per set (3.63) and points per set (4.11). Miller finished the season winning Ivy League Player of the Week for the last three weeks and had nine-straight matches to close the season with double-digit kills, including three-straight 20+ kill matches.
Vanderlaan was also a unanimous selection and was named First Team All-Ivy for the second-straight season. Vanderlaan was tops on the team in hitting percentage (.393), blocks per set (1.20) and total blocks (108). The sophomore upped her play during league play, leading the league with a .473 hitting percentage and 1.35 blocks per set. Vanderlaan's Ivy League hitting percentage was 70 points higher than the next best. During league play, Vanderlaan had at least seven kills in every match, including eight matches with 10 or more. She also hit over .421 in all but one match, with six matches being over .500.
Sheire earned Second Team All-Ivy after finished third on the Bears in both kills per set (2.38) and total blocks (82). Sheire had the second-best hitting percentage on the team at .292. The Arlington, Va., native was named Ivy League Player of the Week once this season and nine of her 13 double-digit kill matches come during league play. Sheire was also named Academic All-Ivy for the Bears.
Miller, Vanderlaan, Sheire and the rest of the Bears will take on Princeton in the first semifinal of the Ivy League Tournament on Friday (Nov. 18) beginning at 4 p.m. on the campus of Yale University.
