
Equestrian begins season with a fourth-place finish at URI Show

ASHAWAY, R.I. – The Brown equestrian team got its season started with a fourth-place finish at the URI Show at Hunter Ridge. The Bears finished the show with 19 points.
Sophia Ekstrand finished tied for the team-lead with six points on the day. Ekstrand earned three-points in both the Open Flat and Open Fences, with fourth-place finishes in both events.
Daphne Maniatis also earned six points in the show, earning the best individual finish of a Bear on the day with a second-place finish in the Limit Fences and a sixth-place finish in the Limit Flat. Caroline Hwang took fourth in the Limit Flat and fifth in the Limit Fences.
Amber Keown-Lang scored a fourth-place finish in the Intermediate Flat and a fifth-place finish in the Intermediate Fences. Sophie Butcher also competed for the Bears in the intermediate events.
Orly Richter and Ariana Zwern represented Brown in the Novice.
In the Pre-Novice, Lauren Lee-Hing finished fourth, Ariel Montague finished fifth and Maya Taylor took sixth.
In the Introductory, Kaki Su finished third, followed by Linda Wang in fourth and Kira Clarke in sixth.
The Bears will return to competition with an exhibition at Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 22.
