PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A first half goal from Michael Chung and a second half marker from Kojo Dadzie helped lift the Bears to a 2-0 win over Rhode Island on Tuesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Henrik Weiper posted a clean sheet in goal with two saves to help the Bears hand URI (6-2-7) just its second loss of the season. Chung's marker was his first goal of the season, and Dadzie's goal was his fourth of the year, tying him for the team lead. Langdon Gryglas picked up his first career assist on the Bears second goal.
Brown (7-4-2) struck in the 25th minute when Chung grabbed a loose ball off a free kick just on the Rams side of midfield, dribbled it towards the 18-yard box and let go a missile from just outside the box into the top left corner of the goal to give Brown the 1-0 lead.
Brown broke through again in the 55th minute when Gryglas sent a pass ahead to Dadzie, who worked around a defender and into the box and sent a shot into the bottom right corner past the keeper for a key insurance goal that gave the Bears a two-goal lead.
"We're very happy with the result this evening," Zisson Family Assistant Coaching Chair Jack Roberts said. "After a difficult result this past weekend, with this group we always seem to responded really well. That's a credit to the guys. We had two fantastic goals from Kojo and Michael, and then it was a collective effort. We used 20 players tonight, and all of them, and the rest of the squad, made a really big push to keep a clean sheet and I'm just delighted for them and the hard work they keep putting in."
Brown returns to action this Sunday at home with an Ivy League matchup against Princeton in a nationally televised game on ESPNU. Game time is set for noon.
