Kate Sheire named Ivy League Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a stellar performance to help lead Brown over Yale to open Ivy League play, Kate Sheire was named both Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Sept. 27).
Sheire finished the match against Yale with a career-high 21 kills and hit .413, committing just two errors in 46 attempts. Sheire also helped the Brown defense, collecting three blocks in the match. Sheire's 21 kills were the most by any player in the Ivy League in the opening weekend of play.
The sophomore from Arlington, Va., was instrumental in Brown breaking an eight-match losing streak to the Bulldogs and handing Yale its first regular season Ivy League home loss since 2015.
Sheire is the second Bear to take home Player of the Week honors this season after Sophia Miller was named Player of the Week last week.
Brown is back in action this weekend with two home matches. The Bears will start the weekend against Cornell on Friday (Oct. 1) at 7 p.m. and close the weekend against Columbia on Saturday (Oct. 2) at 5 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
