No. 17 Women’s Crew Beats Northeastern in All Four Races

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 17 Brown University women's crew beat Northeastern University in all four races on Monday morning on the Charles River as the Bears competed on the Charles for the second consecutive week.
"It was hard racing today by both teams in fair conditions," Brown head coach John Murphy said. "We appreciate Northeastern for hosting us and for giving us another opportunity to race this spring."
The Bears – the No. 1 ranked team in Region 1 in the NCAA Regional Rankings – topped the host Huskies – the No. 2 ranked team in Region 2 – in the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, A varsity four, and third varsity eight.
Brown won the first varsity eight race with a time of 6:19.50 defeating Northeastern (6:34.22) by 14.72 seconds.
In the second varsity eight, the Bears took the race behind a time of 6:28.10, topping the Huskies (6:53.17) by 25.07 seconds.
Rounding out the NCAA events, Brown captured the A varsity four with a time of 7:07.37, clipping Northeastern (7:45.61) by 38.24 seconds.
In the first race of the day – the third varsity eight – Brown won with a time of 6:42.19, outpacing the Huskies (7:07.30) by 25.11 seconds.
Brown improved to 4-0 this season with victories over the University of Rhode Island, Boston University, Holy Cross, and Northeastern. The Bears also topped Boston College in the A, B, and C varsity four.
Prior to Monday, the Bears last met the Huskies in a regular season dual race on April 18, 2015 with Brown taking all five races from Northeastern.
With three races this spring, Brown is now eligible for selection to the NCAA Championships. This year's NCAA Championships will take place from May 28-30 in Sarasota, Fla.
