PHILADELPHIA – Brown women's swimming and diving fell to Penn, 179-121 on Saturday (Nov. 13). Six Bears picked up individual wins against the Quakers.
"It was great to see Emily Clements claim her first collegiate victory, it has been a long time coming," said head coach Kate Kovenock. "Jenna Reznicek is starting to put some important pieces together strategy-wise on her way to winning her 100s of stroke."
The meet started with Brown taking second in the 200 yard medley relay with the team of Jenna Reznicek, Ellie Brault, Zehra Bilgin and Sam Scott touching the wall in 1:42.39.
Bilgin added a second place finish in the 200 freestyle, clocking a time of 1:53.29.
Reznicek picked up the first win of the meet for Brown in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.01. Emily Clements finished in third in the 100 back with a time of 57.27 and third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.68
The Bears notched third-place finishes in both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 butterfly. Kellie Willhite's time of 1:05.92 was good for third in the 100 breaststroke and Nell Chidley took third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.66
Brown had strong success on the boards with Liv Mitchell winning the 3-meter with a score of 273.23. Mitchell tied with Julia Feord for first in the 1-meter with scores of 264.00. Feord took third in the 1-meter with a score of 237.30.
"Our divers continue to impress with Liv and Julia tying on the 1-meter and Mitchell coming back for her second win on the 3-meter," said Kovenock. "Coach Miller is doing a wonderful job with that training group."
Scott (24.10) took second in the 50 free and Bilgin (52.94) was second in the 100 free. Sara Barrett grabbed second in the 500 free with a time of 4:59.36.
Clements earned a win in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 2:00.75. In the 200 yard breaststroke, Audrey Lukawski finished second with a time of 2:21.58.
Reznicek earned her second win of the meet with a win in the 100 fly. Her time of 55.54 was .04 seconds faster than second place.
"Navigating today was a good test for us as Penn came race ready," said Kovenock. "How team members support and communicate with each other in the heat of competition is exceedingly important in the big picture and I really like how this young squad is developing on that front."
The Bears are back home for a dual meet against Yale on Friday (Nov. 19) beginning at 5 p.m.
