Women's Crew Opens Fall Season at Head of the Housatonic

DERBY, Conn. – The Brown women's crew team opened the 2021 fall schedule at the Head of the Housatonic on Saturday. Four boats competed in the 8+ Collegiate Women's Division with 25 total boats competing in the race.

This was a strong start to the season and all our crews raced hard against good competition," said head coach John Murphy. "We look forward to racing again in two weeks at The Head of the Charles in Boston."

Brown swept the top-3 spots in the race, with the A Boat leading the group with a time of 14:54.8. The Brown B Boat finished second with a time of 15:11.0 with the C Boat finishing just behind at 15:15.7.

A pair of Boston boats finished fourth and fifth in the event to break up the Bears. Boston College posted a time of 15:36.8 to take fourth with Boston University posting a time of 15:38.9 for fifth.

Brown was rounded out by the D Boat, which finished sixth after finishing with a time of 15:53.7.

The Bears compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta from Friday (Oct. 22) to Sunday (Oct. 24).
