
Goss and Sullivan Named to Academic All-America At-Large Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown seniors Phil Goss (San Francisco, Calif.) and Coley Sullivan (Louisville, Ky.) were named to their respective 2019-20 Academic All-America At-Large Teams on Friday as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The duo earned Academic All-American honors for the second-straight season, with Goss earning First Team accolades for the second time and Sullivan moving up to First Team after Third Team laurels a year ago.
The Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, as only student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and are significant contributors to their team's success are eligible for nomination.
Goss, from the men's lacrosse team, is a three-time USILA Honorable Mention All-American who ranks second all-time at Brown in career saves (648). A two-time Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List nominee, Goss achieved Second Team All-Ivy accolades for the 2019 season. A double concentrator in Economics and Political Science, Goss was a Senior CLASS Award nominee as a senior.
Sullivan, from the men's swimming & diving team, is a two-time Academic All-Ivy recipient and a two-year team captain. The Applied Mathematics-Economics concentrator concludes his career with his name on a combined eight school records (three individual, five relays). Sullivan earned Second Team All-Ivy honors twice (100 back, 200 free relay) as a junior.
The at-large teams for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
