
Track & Field’s Lewis, Hunt Earn Regional Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Senior Zion Lewis (Canton, Ga.) of the Brown women's track & field team was named the Northeast Regional Female Field Athlete of the Year, and Ken Hunt was named the Women's Assistant Coach of the Year for the indoor season, announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday.
Lewis earned Most Outstanding Field Performer at the Ivy League Championship after totaling 14 points in a pair of field events at the 2020 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championships. She won the triple jump title at 44-1.25 to set the all-time Ivy League, school and facility record, which currently ranks eighth in the NCAA this season. Lewis also took fourth in the long jump at 19-6.75 for fourth all-time in program history. In addition, she finished fourth in the finals of the 60 meters for 18 total points at the meet.
Hunt, now in his eighth season at Brown as an assistant coach for jumps and multi-events, led his athletes to 32 combined points and a pair of individual titles at the Ivy League Championship. Lewis set the Ivy League record in the triple jump and will head to the NCAA Championship ranked eighth in the country in the event, while Uche defended her title in the long jump.
This is Hunt's second major award from the USTFCCCA in as many seasons. He was previously named the Women's Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2019 outdoor season.
Brown track & field has now won four major regional awards in the past two years, as Owen Russell was named Northeast Regional Male Field Athlete of the Year for the 2018-19 indoor campaign.
