
Gaziano, Hunsaker Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's basketball senior guard Justine Gaziano and men's basketball senior guard Zach Hunsaker have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the period of Dec. 9 to Jan. 5, Brown announced on Monday.

Senior guard Justine Gaziano scored 23.0 points per game over the Bears' three games after finals, while shooting 54.8 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from 3-point distance, and 84.6 percent from the free throw line. During Brown's two games in Florida, the Natick, Mass., native averaged 26.0 points per game, shooting 51.5 percent from the field, 52.9 percent from distance, and 81.8 percent on free throws. She netted 26 points on 6-of-9 field goals, 3-of-4 treys, and 5-of-5 free throws in a 72-57 win at FIU (Dec. 29) and notched 26 points, while hitting 6-of-12 triples at USF (Dec. 30). Gaziano added 17 points on 6-of-9 field goals and 3-of-4 treys in a 58-44 win at Fairfield (Dec. 22).
Zach Hunsaker, Men's Basketball, Senior, North Salt Lake, Utah
Senior guard Zach Hunsaker netted a career-high 22 points, including a career-best six 3-pointers made to lead Brown to an 85-75 win over the University of Rhode Island on Jan. 2. A native of North Salt Lake, Utah, Hunsaker helped the Bears secure the de facto Rhode Island state title, given their 2-0 record against Ocean State teams. Hunsaker connected on 6-of-8 treys, 7-of-11 field goals, and 2-of-2 free throws in the contest, while adding four rebounds and three steals. He helped Brown earn a 39-12 advantage in points off 3-point field goals as the Bears made 13-of-28 treys (46.4 percent) and limited the Rams to 4-of-20 triples (20.0 percent).
