PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team defeated Buffalo, 4-3, on Friday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears came back after dropping the doubles point and took four of the six singles matches.
"What an incredible match today against a very good Buffalo team," said head coach Tim Gray. "Everyone stepped up when we needed them at the big moments. This is exactly the types of opponents we need to compete with."
The Bulls opened the match with wins in second and third doubles to take a 1-0 lead going into singles play.
Brown would hold strong in singles and come from behind to win its third-straight match. Senior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) posted a 6-1, 7-5 win in the top spot while junior Teddy van Eck (Rye, N.Y.) followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in third singles. Two freshmen, Niraj Komatineni (Mason, Ohio) (6-4, 6-2) and Matthew Mu (La Jolla, Calif.) (6-3, 4-6, 6-1), closed out the evening by winning their matches in the fifth and sixth spot, respectively.
