Women’s Cross Country Ranked Sixth in Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS – After a pair of second-place performances at Dartmouth to open the season, the Brown women's and men's cross country teams are ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, in the latest Northeast Region Rankings, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The women's team jumped up three spots from the preseason poll, passing both Harvard and Yale in the standings, while the men's side held position in the eighth spot.
Hannah Butler led the Bears in the season opener with a first-place finish as she topped the 42-runner field in a time of 21:58.74 (6K), while Samantha Valentine and Ally Hajda also secured top-five performances at third and fourth, respectively. Dominic Morganti paced the men's side with a fourth-place showing at 25:00.55 (8K).
The Bears return to the course on Saturday (Sept. 20) for the Boston College Battle-in-Beantown at Franklin Park.
