PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's crew has tallied three CRCA All-Americans and 11 CRCA Scholar-Athletes, with seniors Amy Tarczynski and Keenae Tiersma and junior Louise Sommer earning both honors, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced on Friday.

Sommer (Evanston, Ill.) gained First Team All-America honors, Tiersma (Woodinville, Wash.) garnered Second Team All-America accolades, and Tarczynski (Oakland, Calif.) collected Honorable Mention All-America laurels. All three student-athletes earned All-America honors for the first time.
Sommer has twice earned All-Ivy honors, while rowing with the Bears' first varsity eight in each of her first three seasons. Tiersma and Tarczynski both gained All-Ivy honors this past spring, and Tarczynski won Brown's Marjorie Brown Smith Award given to the Bears' most outstanding female varsity athlete.
The Bears' 11 CRCA Scholar-Athletes included senior Claire Benning (Weston, Mass.), junior Andrea Bernhardt (Ridgefield, Conn.), junior Addie Dahl (Greenwich, Conn.), sophomore Danielle Kahan (Wayland, Mass.), junior Julia Lynn (Hamden, Conn.), senior Stacy Neul (Plymouth, Mass.), junior Anna Odell (Austin, Texas), junior Alaena Roberds (Kirkland, Wash.), Sommer, Tarczynski, and Tiersma.
Tarczynski – also a CoSIDA Academic All-America selection – earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors for the third time. Bernhardt, Lynn, Odell, and Roberds all collected the accolades for the second time.
In 2019, the Bears earned their 23rd straight berth in the NCAA Championships and placed ninth as a team for their 22nd top-10 finish out of 23 championships.
The CRCA's All-America teams are based on a team's regional finish, coaches' recommendations, and 2,000-meter erg scores. To be eligible, student-athletes must have competed in the first varsity eight boat in 75 percent of the team's races.
To be eligible for a scholar-athlete award, student-athletes must be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, rowed in 75 percent of the team's spring races in an NCAA eligible boat, and maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
