
Stern, Delano Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's track & field junior sprinter May Stern and baseball junior outfielder/pitcher Garett Delano have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 1-7, Brown announced on Monday.

Junior sprinter May Stern helped the Bears set a school record in the 4x100-meter relay at the UMass Invitational on Saturday. A native of Providence, R.I., Stern ran the anchor leg as the 4x100 relay team won the race and set the school record in a time of 45.91. She also helped the 4x400-meter relay team win its race in a time of 3:49.35. Stern finished runner up in the 400 meters behind a time of 54.96.
Garett Delano, Baseball, Junior, Callahan, Fla.
Junior outfielder/pitcher Garett Delano hit .417 (5-for-12) at the plate last week, while earning a win as a pitcher, as Brown swept a three-game series at Cornell. A native of Callahan, Fla., Delano threw 7.0 shutout innings in game one of the series with four strikeouts to no walks. In the same contest, he went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs, a double, and a walk. In game two of the series, he posted a 2-for-4 effort with a run and a stolen base.
