
Perez, Simaan Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's water polo sophomore attacker Carissa Perez and men's lacrosse junior face-off specialist Jason Simaan have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 22-28, Brown announced on Monday.

Sophomore attacker Carissa Perez earned Second Team CWPA All-Tournament honors behind 17 points, helping lead the Bears to a 2-1 weekend and a fifth-place team finish at the 2019 CWPA Championship. A native of Pico Rivera, Calif., Perez totaled her 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. She gained Player of the Game honors after posting three goals and four assists in a 13-8 win over St. Francis (Pa.). She tallied five assists and a goal against Harvard and notched two goals, two assists, and two steals in a 7-5 win over George Washington.
Jason Simaan, Men's Lacrosse, Junior, Newport Beach, Calif.
Junior face-off specialist Jason Simaan won 25-of-34 faceoffs (.735) last week, helping Brown clinch a berth in the Ivy League Tournament and capture the Ocean State Cup. A native of Newport Beach, Calif., Simaan won 17-of-19 faceoffs (.894) in an 11-7 victory over Dartmouth alongside a career-high 12 ground balls and an assist as the Bears punched their ticket to the Ivy Tournament for the fifth straight year. In a 17-7 win at Bryant, he won 8-of-15 faceoffs, picked up six ground balls, and scored his first career goal.
