Providence, R.I. – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has released its 2018-19 Men's All-District Teams, based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. Brown sophomore guard Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN), the Ivy League's fourth leading scorer, has been selected to the District I team.
The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year. For each of the nine geographic districts, ten players are selected as well as a player and coach of the year.
Cambridge lead the Bears in scoring with 15.7 points per game and ranked second in the Ivy League in blocked shots with 1.7 per game. He scored 30 or more points three times this season, including 31 points at Canisius, and 30 points against Marist and Harvard.
The 2018 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Cambridge also helped the Bears defeat Navy with 29 points and San Diego State with a game high 25 points. He blocked five shots against Stony Brook and four shots against both LIU-Brooklyn and Harvard. Cambridge also pulled down a season high nine rebounds vs. Dartmouth.
