WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Brown men's tennis team defeated William & Mary, 4-0, on Sunday at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Bears claimed the doubles round and then posted victories in third, fourth and sixth singles.
"Today was a very focused and gutsy effort," said head coach Tim Gray. "William & Mary is a very talented and experienced foe and we knew coming in that we could not take anything for granted. We showed tremendous fight as well as resilience. We need to bring this type of effort every time we step on the court."
Junior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and sophomore Ben Collier (Darien, Conn.) opened the doubles round with a 6-3 win in the third spot while freshman Roger Chou (Austin, Texas) and senior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) followed with a 6-4 victory in first doubles over 45th-ranked Finbar Talcott and Tristan Bautil to take the point.
Junior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) started the singles round with a 7-5, 6-4 win in the third spot to give Brown a 2-0 lead. Tan was next in fourth singles with a 6-4, 7-6 victory and freshman Robert Siniakowicz (West Windsor, N.J.) ended the match by winning 6-4, 7-5 in the sixth spot.
