
Women’s Swimming & Diving Remains in Third Place After Day Two of Big Al Open

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's swimming & diving team remains in third place with 396 points at the conclusion of day two at the Big Al Open on Saturday at DeNunzio Pool. Princeton leads the pack with a score of 799.5 while Penn State follows in second (745.5).
Junior Taylor Seaman (Brighton, Mich.), freshman Sasha Liu (Piedmont, Calif.), freshman Sage Matsushima (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and senior Marley Cross (Seattle, Wash.) began the night in the 200 medley relay with a sixth place showing and time of 1:42.03.
Sophomore Miku Takabayashi (Glastonbury, Conn.) turned in a fifth-place finish in the A-Final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:22.67 and sophomore Emma Whall (Dover, N.H.) followed in sixth (4:25.33). Senior Sarah Welch (Beverly, Mass.) won the C-Final of the event in 4:25.76.
Matsushima swam to a time of 54.00 in the 100 butterfly to win the B-Final while freshman Nell Chidley (Mystic, Conn.) claimed the top spot in the C-Final in 55.33. Sophomore Caylene Rippon (Hershey, Pa.) finished fifth in the B-Final with a time of 55.11.
In the A-Final of the 200 freestyle, Seaman finished fourth, touching the wall in 1:49.24. Freshman Audrey Orange (New York City, N.Y.) tied for first in the B-Final with a time of 1:49.60.
A third place finished was turned in by Liu in the B-final of the 100 breaststroke (1:04.32).
Seaman took third in the A-Final of the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.61 and Matsushima came in fifth (55.17). The Bears had three finishers in the B-Final with sophomore Allyson Ty (North Andover, Mass.) (55.73, third), sophomore Victoria Gong (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) (56.50, fifth), and sophomore Maija Ninness (Santa Barbara, Calif.) (56.80, seventh) earning points.
Diving saw sophomore Liv Mitchell (Laguna Beach, Calif.) lead Brown with a seventh-place finish and score of 232.05 in the 1M. Junior Julia Feord (Royal Oak, Mich.) (221.35, 10th), senior Emily Zitkovsky (Lexington, Mass.) (221.15, 11th)and junior Marisa Agarwal (Palo Alto, Calif.) (220.70, 12th) also recorded points in the finals.
A team of Orange, Takabayashi, senior Amelia Gilchrist (Greensboro, N.C.) and Liu concluded the night in sixth place of the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:27.75.
The Bears will conclude competition at the Big Al Open tomorrow (Sunday, Dec. 8), starting with prelims at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
