
Miller, Ehlert Post Double-Doubles, Volleyball Falls at Cornell, 3-1

ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Sophia Miller posted a double-double on a match-high 15 kills and 18 digs, and senior Makena Ehlert tallied a double-double on 11 kills and 14 digs, but Brown University volleyball fell at Cornell University, 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-15, 25-19), on Saturday evening at Newman Arena.

The Bears (13-9, 5-7 Ivy) evened the match at one set apiece with their win in the second stanza before the host Big Red (16-5, 9-3 Ivy) won the next two frames to take the match. Brown stands in sole possession of fourth place in the Ivy League standings after the weekend's results.

"Give credit to Cornell – they made it difficult for us to score efficiently tonight," Brown head coach Ahen Kim said. "With that being said, we are still in a strong position coming out of the weekend and are looking forward to honoring our seniors and competing in front of our home crowd next weekend to close out the year."

Miller (Dallas, Texas) posted her seventh double-double of the season behind her 15 kills and 18 digs, tying her career high in digs. She has posted double-figure kills in 10 of her last 11 matches.

Ehlert (Orange County, Calif.) notched her 10th double-double of the year with her 11 kills and 14 digs. She has posted double-figure kills in 20 of the Bears' 22 matches on the season.

Freshman libero Kaitlyn Wong (Los Altos, Calif.) contributed 17 digs, crossing the 10-dig plateau for the 14th time in her last 16 matches.

Sophomore setter Kristin Sellers (Menlo Park, Calif.) totaled 19 assists and seven digs, and junior Bailie Salk (Tiburon, Calif.) distributed 14 assists. Junior Eliza Grover (Menlo Park, Calif.) added six kills and four blocks, and freshman Audra Curtin (Tampa, Fla.) tacked on a team-best five blocks.

Cornell opened the match with a 25-16 win in set one. The Big Red took leads of 15-8 and 21-12 on its way to the set win. Wong came up with five digs in the frame.

Brown countered with a 25-19 win in set two. Neither side held a lead larger than three points until the Bears used a 3-0 run to move ahead 20-16. Brown then compiled another 3-0 spurt to claim a 23-17 edge before closing out the frame. Miller notched four kills and nine digs in the stanza while Ehlert registered 11 digs as Brown totaled 32 digs as a team in the period.

In set three, Cornell gained a 2-1 set advantage behind a 25-15 set win. After Brown pulled within 14-12, the Big Red concluded the frame on an 11-3 run. Miller tacked on four kills and five digs in the stanza.

Brown captured a 12-9 lead early in set four before Cornell answered with an 8-0 run to pull ahead 17-12. The Bears trimmed the margin to 17-14 but could come no closer as the hosts closed the match with a 25-19 set win. Ehlert and Miller terminated on five and four kills respectively in the set.

Brown dropped the season series to Cornell, 2-0, as the Big Red topped the Bears, 3-0, on Oct. 18.

For Cornell, Jada Stackhouse landed 13 kills on .542 hitting alongside nine blocks, Zoe Chamness handed out 29 assists, and Lily Barber made 18 digs.

Next, Brown hosts Princeton on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) and Penn on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at the Pizzitola Sports Center in the Bears' final weekend of the season.
