Brown Falls To Yale on Bulldogs’ Late Surge, 59-35

Yale improves to 7-1 overall, 4-1 in the Ivy League, while Brown falls to 1-7 overall, 0-5 in the Ivy League.
"It's hard to say this after a loss, but we're still getting better every week," said Brown head coach James Perry. "Yale is a tough team, who played well. We did a lot of good things today and will continue to improve."
Bears' junior quarterback EJ Perry (Andover, MA) had another record-setting day for the Bears, accounting for 471 yards of total offense, fifth best in Brown football history. Perry passed for 331 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 140 yards and a 49-yard touchdown.
Senior Demitri Jackson (Nashua, NH) caught six passes for 66 yards for Brown, while senior Livingstone Harriott (Central Islip, NY) caught touchdown passes of 21 and 14 yards and made six catches for 95 yards overall. Seniors Emerson Logie (New Haven, CT) and Jakob Prall (Tipp City, OH) also caught four passes.
Freshman Harrison Ochs (Indianapolis, IN) paced the Bears' defense with nine tackles, including eight solo stops. Freshman Cooper DeVeau (Foxboro, MA) chipped in with seven solo tackles.
Yale quarterback Kurt Rawlings passed for 360 yards and five touchdowns, including four to wide receiver JP Shohfi, who had a monster day with 10 catches for 166 yards.
Bulldogs' tailback Zane Dudek became the 12thYale player to run for 2,000 career rushing yards after running for 216 yards on 21 carries. He now has 2,147 career rushing yards.
The opening quarter was all Yale as the Bulldogs built a 17-0 lead on a 35-yard field goal by Sam Turkerman, a 19-yard touchdown run by Dudekand a 23-yard scoring pass from Rawlings to Shohfi.
Brown put together a much needed scoring drive, going 75 yards in nine plays, capped off by a 17 yard touchdown pass from Perry to Logie with 12:25 left in the second quarter.
Perry electrified the Brown crowd with a 49-yard touchdown on a quarterback keeper with 2:58 left in the half to trail, 17-14.
Yale answered quickly to pull ahead, 24-14, scoring on a Rawlings to Shohfi 15 yard touchdown pass in a drive that took just 69 seconds.
Not to be outdone, Brown put together another 75-yard scoring drive with Perry connecting on a 21 yard scoring pass to Harriott to trail 24-21 at the half.
Tuckerman's 31 yard field goal gave Yale a 27-21 advantage early in the third quarter.
Brown came back on its next series with Perry marching the Bears on a 76-yard scoring drive. He first connected on a 54-yard pass to Harriott, followed by a 22 yard touchdown pass to senior Dan Gemmell (Andover, MA) for a 28-27 Brown lead with 11:36 left in the quarter.
Yale capitalized on a Brown fumble deep in its own territory, taking over at the Bears' 28 yard line. On its first play from scrimmage, Yale's Rawlings connected on a 28-yard touchdown pass Mason Tipton for a 34-28 Bulldog advantage.
The Bulldogs went up by a 42-28 margin after three quarters on Rawlings' third touchdown pass to Shohfi, an 11-yard scoring play.
The resilient Bears answered once again on a four-yard touchdown pass from Perry to Harriott to cut Yale's lead to 42-35 early in the fourth quarter.
Two late Yale touchdowns accounted for the final score.
Brown closes its road schedule in New York City, facing Columbia on Saturday, November 16. Kick-off is 1:00 pm at Wein Stadium.
