Volleyball’s Miller Wins Second Ivy League Rookie of the Week Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University volleyball freshman outside hitter Sophia Miller has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading the Bears to an Ivy weekend sweep, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Miller Miller posted two double-doubles last week behind 37 kills (4.11 per set), 35 digs (3.89 per set), and three aces as Brown went 2-0. She notched a career-high 24 kills, 17 digs, and two aces in a 3-2 win over Harvard and recorded 13 kills and 18 digs in a 3-1 win over Dartmouth. Miller has registered double-figure kills in eight of her last nine matches and totaled six double-doubles on the year.
Completing their first Ivy League weekend sweep since the 2014 season, the Bears earned their first weekend sweep of Harvard and Dartmouth since 2013 and first road sweep of the Crimson and Big Green since the conference went to 14 league games in 2001.
Miller has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week in two of the last three weeks after also capturing the accolades on Oct. 21.
Next, Miller and the Bears play at Columbia on Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) and at Cornell on Nov. 9 at 5:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
