Equestrian Places Second in Fall Finale, Moves into First in Region

OXFORD, Mass. – Brown University equestrian placed second as a team and moved into first place in the Zone 1 Region standings at the Assumption/Brown IHSA Show on Saturday at Four Winds Farm.

Competing in their sixth and final show of the fall, the Bears tallied eight top-three individual finishes, including three blue ribbons.

The Bears' first-place finishers included senior Katrina Heilbroner (New York, N.Y.) won a blue ribbon in intermediate flat, freshman Daphne Maniatis (Chevy Chase, Md.) took first in novice flat, and junior Audrey Kim (Bronxville, N.Y.) claimed first in introductory flat.

Senior Hannah Woolley (Medfield, Mass.) came in second in open flat and sixth in open fences while freshman Sophie Butcher (Gisborne, Australia) and Heilbroner placed fourth and sixth respectively in intermediate fences. Senior Renee Seto (Barrington, R.I.) finished in third place in open flat.

In limit flat, senior Cate Marchetti (Hanover, Mass.) came in fourth, and senior Rebecca Lee (Guilford, Conn.) placed fifth. In pre-novice flat, senior Sophie Starck (New York, N.Y.) captured second, and sophomore Maya Taylor (Albuquerque, N.M.) came in fifth.

In introductory flat, sophomore Elise Solazzo (Hoover, Ala.) finished second, and freshman Alix Hamon (Sandia Park, N.M.) took third alongside Kim's blue ribbon.

Next, Brown will resume competition in Spring 2020.
