
Equestrian Opens Spring Season Strong at URI Show

ASHAWAY, R.I. - The Brown equestrian team opened its spring season on Saturday (Feb. 29)Â at the University of Rhode Island Show. Going against URI, Rhode Island College, Salve Regina, Johnson and Wales, Assumption, Yale, Holy Cross, and Coast Guard, Brown was awarded the Reserve High Point Team and freshman Micaela Winthrop was awarded the overall High Point Rider.
Winthrop was awarded the high point rider after winning the intermediate fences and limit flats. Freshman Isabella Cope also competed in both events, placing fourth in the intermediate fences and sixth in the limit flats.Â
Junior Mimi Gochman won the open fences and placed fifth in the open flat. Junior Bridget Hickton placed fourth in the open fences. Freshman Elle Graham placed second in the intermediate flat.
Senior Lauren Zhou won the novice and sophomore Emmanuelle Bal won the introductory. Junior Diqiu Liu placed second in the introductory.Â
The Bears will have a weekend off as they gear up for their two show weekend at Johnson and Wales on Saturday, March 13, and Sunday, March 14.
