CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Sophia Miller tallied a career-high 24 kills and completed the double-double with 17 digs to lead Brown University volleyball over Harvard University in five sets, 3-2 (25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 16-14), on Friday night at the Malkin Athletic Center.
Opening the month of November and beginning their first back-to-back weekend in the second half of Ivy League play, the Bears (11-8, 3-6 Ivy) took the decisive set in extra points after the host Crimson (4-14, 2-7 Ivy) rallied from a 2-0 set deficit to force a fifth frame.
"I'm really proud of our team for finding a way to win tonight," Brown head coach Ahen Kim said. "It's not easy to win on the road in this league, and both teams really competed hard throughout the match. Give credit to Harvard for coming back to force a fifth set, but I was happy with the way we responded in that fifth set to come out with the win in the end."
Miller (Dallas, Texas) notched her first career match with 20 or more kills and posted her fifth double-double of the year behind her 24 kills and 17 digs. She has landed double-figure kills in seven of her last eight contests.
