PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Makena Ehlert posted 11 kills, and junior Eliza Grover tallied 10 kills, but Brown University volleyball dropped a 3-0 (29-27, 25-18, 25-20) decision at the University of Pennsylvania on Friday night at The Palestra.
Â
Beginning their first Ivy League road back-to-back weekend of the season, the Bears (9-5, 1-3 Ivy) forced extra points in set one and pushed the Quakers (8-5, 1-3 Ivy) in each of the next two frames before the hosts pulled out a straight-set win.
Â
"We had a really close first set that could have gone either way," Brown head coach Ahen Kim said. "Give credit to Penn for using the momentum from that first set win. We played well in stretches but were not consistent enough throughout the match to win tonight."
Â
Ehlert (Orange County, Calif.) registered her 12th double-figure kill performance of the season behind her 11 kills alongside eight digs while Grover (Menlo Park, Calif.) notched her fifth double-figure kill match of the year on .615 hitting (10 kills on 13 attempts with two errors).
Â
Sophomore Kristin Sellers (Menlo Park, Calif.) handed out 17 assists, and freshman libero Kaitlyn Wong (Los Altos, Calif.) contributed nine digs. Junior Gabrielle Moriconi (Naples, Fla.) and freshman Audra Curtin (Tampa, Fla.) added seven kills and four blocks respectively.
