Providence, R.I. – In its final tune-up before opening of the Ivy League season on Saturday, Brown sophomore Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN) scored 18 points to pace five double figure scorers, enabling the Bears to extend their winning streak to six games with a 100-61 win over Johnson & Wales Monday evening at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Bears, winners of 12 of their last 14 games, improve to 12-4 overall, the most non-league wins in Brown history, while the Wildcats fall to 7-10 overall. Brown has won eight straight home games to open the season.
"I liked the way we shared the ball and the way we defended, especially after the first eight minutes," said Brown head coach Mike Martin. "We have a lot of different ways to play and have shown some grit and toughness. We did a lot of good things tonight and it's now on to the Ivy League season."
Cambridge led 12 Brown players in the scoring column by shooting a dazzling 6-of-9 from the field, including 5-of-7 from beyond the three point arc, while adding four rebounds and two blocked shots in 19 minutes of play.
Bears' senior Obi Okolie (Ajax, Ontario) scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds, while sophomore Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) had 11 points, a team high seven rebounds, five assists and a career best three steals.
