Thomas, Powell Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's rugby freshman Zy Thomas and men's golf sophomore Drew Powell have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 17-23, Brown announced on Monday.
Zy Thomas, Women's Rugby, Freshman, Fairfield, Calif.
Freshman Zy Thomas scored a team-high three tries to help lead Brown women's rugby to a 38-27 victory over West Chester on Saturday. A native of Fairfield, Calif., she tallied two tries in the second half with her try late in the second stanza putting the match out of reach. In the second half, her tries helped give the Bears leads of 31-22 and 38-27.
Drew Powell, Men's Golf, Sophomore, Bangor, Maine
Sophomore Drew Powell captured individual medalist honors for Brown men's golf at the 36-hole Quechee Collegiate Challenge this past weekend. A native of Bangor, Maine, Powell shot 69-71-140 to finish in a three-way tie for first place. In a four-way playoff, he sank a birdie on the first playoff hole to claim the individual title.
