
Women's Crew's Madden Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's crew recent graduate Cicely Madden '18 has been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, the National Collegiate Athletic Association announced on Thursday.

A native of Weston, Mass., Madden helped lead Brown to the Ivy League team title in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and helped the program finish in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships in all four of her seasons. She earned All-Ivy four times, gained First Team CRCA All-America last season and twice competed at the U23 World Championships.

The NCAA Woman of the Year program honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport, must have completed eligibility in her primary sport, and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2018.

NCAA member schools have nominated a record 581 female college athletes for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year award. The NCAA encourages member schools to honor their top graduating female student-athletes each year by submitting their names for consideration for the Woman of the Year award.
