
Men's Tennis Suffers 4-0 Setback Against No. 16 Columbia

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team was defeated by No. 16 Columbia, 4-0, on Saturday at the Brown Varsity Tennis Courts. The Lions won the doubles point and took the first three singles matches for the victory.
Columbia gained the doubles point with a 6-3 win by No.42 Jack Lin and William Matheson in the first spot and a 6-4 showing in second doubles.
In the singles round, the Lion won in the third, fourth and sixth spot to close out the day. Senior Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) put forth a solid effort in the top spot for singles and was winning the second set, 5-3, against No. 22 Victor Pham at the time the match was called. Senior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) also battled a ranked opponent and was 5-5 in his second set versus No. 56 Jackie Tang that did not finish.
The Bears host No. 47 Cornell tomorrow (April 22) at the Brown Varsity Tennis Courts for a 1:00 p.m. match on the Ivy League Network.
